Oh Nuts! (TE Sneak Peek Day Two)...

It's Day Two of sneak peaks for the September Release at Taylored Expressions! I have two cards to share with you today, each focusing on something that I am afraid I am often guilty of...the forgotten birthday. Lucky for me, TE has a new line of adorable Belated Birthday A la Carte stamps featuring cute critters (and sentiments!) so that I can properly make it up to my friends and family. I was extra excited about these stamps as they were conceptualized by our very own Jami Sibley and are from the same pen that illustrates the fun-loving Apple Doodle Ink line.

For my first card, I started by making some faux suede (see my Techniques tab for instructions) to give my furry little friend from Oh Nuts some texture. I stamped the image and cut out the little guy, paper-piecing his big nut for him to hug. Next, I free-cut a nice branch and leaves, adhering them to a cloud-filled sky. The sentiment (which is included as two separate stamps, perfect for stamping inside the card, too) was stamped on vellum, a good way to wish a neglected chum a very happy birthday from this cheeky friend!

BEAN NOTES: *All materials are Taylored Expressions unless otherwise noted: Oh Nuts Belated Birthday A la Carte and Cloudy Days Background Stamps; Memento Rich Cocoa, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Colorbox Ice Blue Chalk Ink; Make a Wish Project Pantry kit (Textured Card Stock); Crumb Cake Card Stock (Stampin' Up!); Brads (generic); PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate; Foam Tape
HAPPY BEANS: Vellum

My second card for today uses another of the Belated Birthday A la Carte series of stamps called Stand Out. How cute is this flock? For this card, I began by stamping the birds on white card stock, then again so that I could color the bodies and balloon with Copics and pop them up.

Do you see that frame of little circles? I created that using the soon-to-be-released Borderlicious border set by inking up just a portion of it and stamping in a rectangle. I cut out the inside to make a window frame for the cute birds, then matted it by trimming some of the darling patterned paper from the Make a Wish Product Pantry Kit. More of the paper made a perfect accent panel in the background, and the kit provided the fun ribbon, too! I finished off by stamping the sentiments in white. I think these sweet birdies might buy me some points with its recipient!
