Goodbye, Goodbye...

Well, it's been an interesting 2 years here in Saint Paul, Minnesota, but me and the fam are off to the Big Apple. Goodbye to big open spaces, air so clean it hurts to breathe, and the birthplace of our darling little boy. This photo is of the apartment complex where we brought home our son from the hospital. The next time I post, we'll be in the city that never sleeps, and we'll be starting our next big adventure! Thanks to all of you who have left me such nice and encouraging comments.

From Me to You (Mojo Monday 98)...

To view an image up-close, please click on the photo.

I keep saying that I'm taking a break from card-making as I try to move my family to New York, but I just couldn't resist this week's Mojo Monday sketch! I adore the simple and elegant design and I wanted to do something in keeping with that sensibility. I am in love with the color Elegant Eggplant and had just a teeny bit left in my scrap box so I thought I'd pair it with some Kiwi Kiss. I made a "floating" frame with some Nestabilities and acetate, popped up the lovely bloom from Verve's Miracles Blossom set, and finished off with some threaded ribbon. To add a little more dimension to the flower, I paper-pieced some Perfect Plum cardstock. Added Bean Tip: I've gotten some questions about how I threaded the ribbon. Just take a hobby blade and make narrow double-slits in your paper wherever you want your ribbon to "thread" -- pull your ribbon through and you have a simple way to add a little something extra. It's a great technique and you can put in whatever pattern you'd like. Here is another example. For this card's "bow," I just tied an extra piece of ribbon and snipped the ends.

Bonjour, Little One...Verve Blog Hop!

To view an image up-close, please click on the photo.

This is my first blog hop ever, and I'm so excited to be participating in Verve's, celebrating their "Anni-Verve-Sary!" Verve turns two today and they're celebrating with a hop, hop, hop! The party kicked off over on the Verve blog, so if you’ve just happened along, be sure to hop on over there to start from the beginning! And to make this party a real shindig, there’s a mystery jackpot hidden at one of the stops along the hop. One lucky commenter on that blog will win Verve’s entire August release! But of course, it wouldn’t be a mystery if you knew which blog, would it? So if you’re feeling the love, give a little shout out to the bloggers in the hop and you just might have a reason to jump for joy!

Thanks for hopping on by and I hope you enjoy my blog hop project.

Our longtime friend Jeff and his lovely wife Christie had a baby girl in July. She was a little late, but well worth the wait. To welcome Sadie Anne into the world, I decided to make her a picture frame based on the decor of her new home. I found a frame at my local Michael's store, and I liked how the window was a bit off-set from the usual frame. After covering it with some Designer Series Paper, I knew exactly which set I wanted to use. Verve's Up, Up & Away seemed like the perfect fit -- I noticed from nursery photos a cute framed print of hot air balloons over Paris, and her color scheme looked like to me like Barely Banana, Kiwi Kiss, and Pink Pirouette! In keeping with Sadie's French theme, I added an appropriate "Bonjour." Welcome to the world, Sadie Anne!
