Under the Sea...TE Release Party Continues!

Happy, Happy Saturday! TE is having so much fun with its newest release that we decided to keep the party going with another day of fun projects. Today, I get to share a shaped card I created with the newly released Under the Sea set and new Waves/Bubbles Impression Plate!

I created the card by die-cutting a circle and scalloped border from . Then, I got busy filling it up with an under the sea scene.

I trimmed some perfect patterned paper for sand and added a paper-pieced happy crab, fish, and whale.

With the Waves/Bubbles Impression Plate, I created my own "ocean," die-cutting some waves and stamping some fish and coral to complete my scene.

A Whale of a Time!...

to view an image up-close, please click on the photo

My little boy shares a birthday with one of his friends, a sweet girl named Anna. She is the cutest, tiniest little thing and he will be attending her birthday party in a couple of weeks -- his first ever! I thought I would create a fun card for her and I was inspired by the Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge over at Moxie Fab World. I wanted to try my hand at making something that could show off this easy and fun technique.

Since Anna is such a little thing, I thought it would be a cute contrast to make her a card starring something as huge as a whale. For my card, to help along my happy pleated whale, I pleated some clouds and the crests of the ocean waves and I hope my guy's wee friend has a whale of a good time on her special day! (BEAN TIP: If you are having trouble manipulating your paper into pleats, try a lighter weight stock.)

To bid proper goodbye to the Retiring Colors, I decided to see if I could make a card that used ALL of them. I didn't think I could do it, but I did manage to make this fun, bright card to pay homage to all the wonderful colors that have become almost like friends.
For this card, I used two punches, one from the new Punch Pack and the other a 1/2" Circle Punch. I simply punched every color twice and then assembled them onto a piece of white card stock. I used a 1-3/4" Circle Punch to cut a window through my colorful panel as well as my white card base and glued a piece of Basic Black to the inside of the card. For the sentiment, I brought out an old hostess stamp -- I thought the message a perfect fit to say not only au revoir, but also to look forward to some exciting new additions!

Triple Play Mouse...

To view an image up-close, please click on the photo.

Amazingly, three challenges converged this week and made for a perfect opportunity to make one card to fit all of them. The Copic Colour Challenge #13 sketch made for a good foundation, the Penny Black Saturday Challenge (#49) offered up a "recipe" of 3 flowers, two papers, and one charm/brad, and Our Creative Corner provided the colors (Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and one neutral)! I can't seem to get away from those adorable mice from Penny Black, and I love how this one "slides" into a bed of tulips.

Moroccan Cheer & Mojo Monday (#81)...

To view the image up-close, please click on the photo.

It's Mojo Monday time again! I've been wanting to use a new Basic Grey stamp set called Morocco, and I thought this sketch would be the perfect opportunity. I love the Eastern influence of the images, especially the elephant. Using a Big Shot, I first embossed the Fiskars 'Leaves' onto cardstock. I then used a VersaMark pen to draw over the raised pattern (as well as the feather), and gold embossing powder really brought out a glamorous glow. The 'flower' was created using the ever-useful Emboss Resist technique.
BEAN NOTES: Basic Grey Morocco and K&Company 'Cheers' Stamps; Stampin' Up Pumpkin Pie and Sage Shadow Classic Ink; My Mind's Eye 'Hattie Marie' Designer Paper; SU Whisper White Cardstock; Light Green Cardstock (generic); The Paper Company Antique Gold, Mango, and Seaglass Metallic Cardstock; SU Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon; Paper Shapers 7/8" Circle Punch; Foam Dimensional Circle; Making Memories Brads
HAPPY BEANS: Ranger Super-Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder; VersaMark Clear Ink Pen & Pad; Fiskars 'Leaves' Embossing Plate; Big Shot; Kaiser Light Green Pearls
