Dream Big and Reach for the Stars

Hey there, crafty friends! Today I'm sharing a fun card I've been meaning to post for a while. I used the super fabulous Shining Star Cutting Plate from Taylored Expressions to create this colorful card that would be great for graduation. To create to different "rays" of stars, I cut panels using the Ray of Sunshine Cutting Plate and simply popped the die-cut green panel over them. This was simple to create, yet vibrant and celebratory and super fun to create.

Thanks for joining me today! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek Day 3: Ahoy there, Dad!

Ahoy there, crafty friends! Today I'm playing along again with Taylored Expressions for their May Release Week! I created another fun Father's Day card and I'm excited to share it with you. I used the Matched Summer Nights Kit and coordinating Summer Nights Sequins on today's card.

The colors and patterns from the paper kit were perfect for a nautical themed card. I used this cute boat from an oldie, but goodie stamp set, Bon Voyage. I set it on the darling new Build a Tag 4 die set. (Love the stitching!) and embossed the background both horizontally and vertically using the new Corrugated Embossing Folder. Sequins dot the background for just a little bling.

The simple, yet perfect sentiment from Many Minis - Occasions fit the wee tag from Build a Tag 4. I just punched a little hole in it and attached it to the card with some baker's twine.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek Day 2: Best Dad Ever

It's Tuesday! I really do enjoy making Father's Day cards because my husband, by dad, and my father-in-law are all such great fathers that it's a pleasure sending them something fun. Today I'm playing along with my friends at Taylored Expressions for their May Release, which includes some great Father's Day items. Today, I'm using the soon-to-be-released (Thursday!) Argyle Cutting Plate.

I wanted to try out a cool new technique that I've been seeing all over the creative-sphere, which is creating inlaid cards using dies. I grabbed the Chunky Alpha alphabet dies to spell out "Best Dad Ever". I thought this one might be a little tricky to do with the Argyle Cutting Plate, but it turned out to be pretty easy to do. I just had to be careful about keeping the little pieces from the negative spaces cut by the letters. To help me out, I cut out the Argyle Cutting plate on just a piece of printer paper to use as a guide. By placing it on top of my Earl Gray die-cut panel, I was able to tape the letters down so that they lined up.

I adhered all the letters that were cut with Salt Water Taffy back into the panel. I added some Wink of Stella to the Blue Corn background to highlight the argyle panel. I had intended this card for my dad, but my husband saw it and said, "That one's for me, right?"

Hope you enjoyed my card today, friends! Tune into the TE Blog for more designer fun and for a chance to win a fun prize!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek Day 1: Of Thee I Sing

Happy Monday, crafty friends! This week, I am playing along with Taylored Expressions for their May Release! Today it's all about being patriotic, and I can't wait to share my two cards with you today.

My first card uses a combination of brand new release items and some that came out recently, along with my favorite Cutting Plate, Ray of Sunshine. I combined it with the Shining Star Cutting Plate to create this fun patriotic card. The Of Thee I Sing stamp set has lyrics from my very favorite patriotic song, My Country 'Tis of Thee. Both of my projects use the new Matched Kit, Summer Nights, which I absolutely LOVE!

My second project makes use of some Build A Scene dies along with the new Starry Nights Cutting Plate and the sweet Little Bits - Pinwheel dies. The Starry Nights Cutting Plate is very cool…it's cut so that it really looks like stars are falling from the sky. I placed some silver glitter card stock behind the panel and it is so pretty! I'll need to decide which of the wonderful sentiments from Of Thee I Sing to place inside my fun card.
