Birthday Breeze...

Our cousin Katy's husband Rob has a birthday coming up and I wanted to send him a fun (but not feminine) card. He's a skilled doctor and was recently chosen to serve as part of Doctors Without Borders, which is an amazing group of dedicated physicians and nurses hoping to do some good in the world. I was inspired by the travel projects on the Hero Arts Club Blog and decided that a sailboat would be a great way to wish him good travels. When Rob leaves for his selfless adventure, we'll be wishing him good fortune and safe tidings, too!
For this card, I masked the sentiment from Stampin' Up's Life's A Breeze set and substituted the "Happy Birthday" stamp from Papertrey Ink. To make the wavey frame, I punched each side of a square with a border punch. The colors are from this week's Color Throwdown (Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Kiwi Kiss). Since they are so bright, I opted for a softer background and created my own using this great Hero Arts block stamp, VersaMark, and pastel chalks -- it's always so fun to see the image appear like magic!

What a great card! Very unique and definitely trendy! Love it! Thanks for playing along with us in the Color Throwdown!
Awesome, awesome, awesome! I am so happy I found your blog, it does make me smile! Thanks for playing and using these colors to make such a great card for your cousin's husband! My niece is on a Mercy Ship in Africa--probably a similar thing to what he is doing!
Blessings!
