Happy (SPRING!)...
To view an image up-close, please click on the photo.
I think everyone is just about done with winter and is ready for Spring! This week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge is Spring-themed, and I was pleased to pair this frisky theme with Kazan's 2 Sketches 4 You Sketch and Embellish Magazine's Color Challenge with Borders (whew!) I decided to try something new today, and I made a "Z-fold" card (see sidebar for a tutorial link).
For this card, I took Kazan's sketch and flipped it so that the sentiment was not on the bottom. For the card itself, I scored the base cardstock and then began cutting panels to fit each section. I used the Sizzix XL Flower Folds Die from Stampin' Up to create the pretty center flower element, also running through each section with an embossing folder to add texture.
To fulfill the "borders" portion of one challenge, I added some along the top and bottom of my card with a border punch. I used a background stamp to create a subtle background on my topmost panel and then got to work on my sentiment. I knew I wanted the card to be a bit of a "surprise" on the inside, so I kept the sentiment simple and tiny. Once open, the "Spring" would be revealed. A few Liquid Pearls and a nice green button added a little extra spring to my card!
