Share Joy Challenge #1: Celebrating YOU

Happy Sunday, crafty friends! I was able to get into my craft space this weekend because there are tons of birthdays coming up for which I need to create some fun cards. I was inspired by the new Share Joy Challenge from Taylored Expressions. The sketch was just what I needed to get myself in the mood to create! I love this challenge because there is always a sketch and another element, and I can choose to do both or just one of them. The best part is that the Challenge asks that we send out the cards we create…I'm a notorious card hoarder, so it's perfect for me!

I chose to use just the sketch for both my cards. My first card uses the new Presents Cutting Plate from TE as well as the Graphic Impressions Birthday Embossing Folder.

The Cutting Plate was originally designed to fit on an entire A2 card front, but I wanted to use the cute stack of presents for the panel element in the sketch. I simply snipped the corners of the original die-cut and then glued them together to form a smaller frame. I trimmed the extra frame pieces off and, voila!, I had a new panel in the size I was looking for.

My second card focuses instead on a stamped image, this time Wishes on a Wire Birthday. I colored it in with Copics, trimmed, and added a blue mat. I also fussy cut just the Celebrate banner and two of the balloons to pop out above the first stamped image for some depth. I used the new Take a Number Embossing Folder in the background and, instead of the flag/banner element from the sketch, I replaced it with a die-cut "you" -- the great thing about sketches is that you don't need to adhere to it exactly, but rather go with what inspires you!

I hope you'll try out the Share Joy Challenge and create and send some cards of your own!
