Hey there, crafty friends! I have a card that I have been meaning to post for a while and share with you. I used a recently released Cutting Plate from Taylored Expressions called Bistro Lights and it's so cool that I wanted to create a striking Thank You card. The Cutting Plate is pretty fabulous because it also includes several of the little circles on their own so that you can string your 'lights' without running the entire plate through over and over. I created my red background first, and it was actually an accident.
I was using some distress ink and couldn't find my distress ink tool, so I tried a sponge dauber. It wouldn't spread the ink out in its usual way and instead left an impression of the dauber itself. Well, I decided it was kind of a cool effect that mimicked the circles on the Cutting Plate and voila! I decided to go with it. The 'thanks' die is from a customer appreciation die that TE sent me with one of my orders. I cut it from the same textured metallic cardstock I used for my 'lights'.
I hope you enjoy today's card, friends! Don't be afraid to just go with what seems like might be a mistake. You never know what can happen!

Wow! What a gorgeous card and a happy "mistake"! Love how the red background combines two current trends with both a ombre and a bokeh effect. Oh, and those Bistro Lights and Thanks die cuts are pretty cool too!
